Mechanical tuning is a service we have offered for many years for turbo diesels with mechanical throttle control, before the arrival of diesel chips, diesel tuning boxes for ‘fly by wire’ throttle control diesels.

This method of tuning is only advisable for turbo diesels as non turbo engines have insufficient adjustment points (excluding 2.5 DI Transit 1997-2000 and agricultural/industrial engines).

Tuning an engine with mechanical throttle control entails precise adjustments to the injection pump a minimum of 2 adjustments are made up to a maximum of 8.

To tune an engine with mechanical throttle control we require either the injection pump or the whole vehicle, costs vary according to application but the minimum charge is £50.

For vehicles with a mileage over 100 000 we advice overhaul or upgrading of the injectors whilst the engine is tuned (we offer this whole service). This ensures optimum performance and maximum power gains.

The power and torque increase after a mechanical tune varies but a minimum of 10% up 20% is typical.

For a mechanical tune quotation please contact us with your vehicle details and mileage.
